STRIANT is the first-ever buccal system for testosterone delivery, meaning testosterone is delivered via a tablet-like product that adheres to the gum surface in the mouth.

STRIANT utilizes Columbia Laboratories’ patented progressive hydration technology to deliver testosterone via the buccal mucosa twice daily.

The controlled- and sustained-release buccal system, which is a small, tablet-like product, acts by adhering to the gum surface when placed in a comfortable position just above the incisor tooth (on either side of the mouth). The patented progressive hydration technology consists of a carbomer that provides initial adhesion and polycarbophil that provides long-term adhesion.

As the buccal system is exposed to moisture, testosterone is absorbed into the bloodstream through the gum and delivered directly into the superior vena cava, bypassing the gastrointestinal system and liver.

Because of this unique delivery system, and absorption occurring directly into the superior vena cava, there are no issues with transference of testosterone to partners or children.

The buccal system softens and molds to the shape of the gum, producing a gel-like form that remains in place over each 12-hour dosing period. It is recommended that STRIANT be rotated to alternate sides of the mouth with each application.
