Testosterone: What is it?

The T Factor

You’ve always had the T Factor in your life because the “T” stands for testosterone. Testosterone is a hormone that is produced mostly in your testes. When you have normal amounts of it in your body, you don’t even know it’s there. But when your testosterone level drops, it can cause you to develop a condition called hypogonadism. Usually your testosterone level stays in the normal range throughout your life. But starting at around age 40, your body naturally begins to produce less testosterone. In some men their testosterone level gets lower but still remains within the normal range. But in other men, a below-normal level of testosterone can lead to hypogonadism. There are other causes of testosterone deficiency or hypogonadism.
